Scotland the Brave

Scotland continued to put up a brave performance today as they faced South Africa in their second match of the ICC 20/20 World Cup tournament at Lords.

Scotland won the toss and chose to bowl first. They started off well enough but by the middle of the innings the South Africans were showing their dominance. Scotland may have taken some heart when the South Africans lost both Hamilton and Smith in the third over but then A.B. de Villiers came to the crease and was relentless in teaching the Associates about cricket at this level. He made an entertaining 79 runs off 34 balls and carried the South Africans to an unassailable 211 runs.

Scotland's high point of the match came when Coezter took an amazing catch at long-on to take the wicket of Boucher. He was practically on the boundary and leaped high in the air with his right hand outstretched. The ball stuck and he was given a rousing ovation for what will surely be one of the outstanding cathces of the tournament.

Scotland tried their best but were no match for the bowling of the likes of Dale Steyn and Johan Botha. They were all out for 81 in the 16th over.

It now remains to be seen if South Africa or New Zealand will top this group D. They are due to face each other in a match on Tuesday.
